Today's Fab Friday features me! Yes, I'm answering readers' questions to let you know a little more about me, and give you a peep into the heart and soul of Chelle Ramsey. So, let's get to digging... READER: What gives you the inspiration to come up with your stories? CHELLE: Sometimes, it comes to me in a dream that happens during the night. I will jump up and write those dreams down, and then flesh it out into a full-fledged story. Other times, it may be my imagination thinking of someone's personality versus a created situation, and how that person works through it with a different resolve. Most of them are real life situations many people face with fictional characters, that I use to encourage others. READER: Is writing your gift/talent, or a hobby? CHELLE: Writing is definitely a gift. I recognize that I would not be able to do this without the anointing of the Lord. Some people believe you can be taught to write, and perhaps you can, but if it's something that comes naturally and you're not challenged in that area, then it is a gift. It is also a hobby as it relates to a method I use to relax and have some down-time. However, I am definitely working towards making this my full-time career. READER: Is the Paige character based on someone you know, your imagination, or something from a news item? CHELLE: Paige is not based on anyone that I know. She is a complex combination of my views on life, and her personality and character traits are derived from women in general. From myself, to women that I have known throughout my life, or women I have seen. I have taken a major theme that I am familiar with and combined it with diverse personality traits and a different resolve to explore how someone might handle this situation. That's the beauty of fiction writing. READER: What are you working on right now? CHELLE: Honestly, I have so many WIPS that are being touched in some function or other right now. Two major things that I have going on are a romance novel that is super clean (totally new for me) and a second book in this other series that I've been working on. It's romance, too, but it definitely has the drama you have come to expect from me. READER: How long does it take you to write a book on average? CHELLE: It varies. If the characters are speaking to me and I have the time and focus to sit and craft a piece, I can do it in one month. I have often cranked out ghostwriting fictional romance every 2 weeks with a 40k+ word count. My novels can take up to one year, if I don't have the time and focus to sit down and write. There are a few that have taken a few years, because sometimes the characters walk away and take a break and my muse goes gallivanting off into the woods. READER: Which came first: writing or salvation? CHELLE: Writing. I started writing at the age of 12, when I did not have the Lord in my life. I was not raised in the church, and went occasionally with my grandmother whenever I visited her house. I began writing as a way to find healing and entertainment. It is a part of who I am, but what I did not recognize at the time was that it came as a gift from Almighty God. Thanks for joining me for my Fab Friday feature.
