BEJEWELED: A BEAUTIFUL BLEND_A STRANGE ENCOUNTER EXCERPT

Raymond speared a chicken breast chunk with his fork and put it in his mouth. He wore a thoughtful expression, and his mind appeared to be a million miles away.

“What is it, Ray?” She set her fork down on the side of her plate. She removed her napkin from her lap and walked into the kitchen to grab the pitcher of tea from the refrigerator.

Walking back into the dining room, she noticed her husband was still far off in thought.

“Hey, what’s on your mind?” Olivia refilled his glass with tea and then her own.

“I’m heading out of town this weekend,” he murmured, and then took a sip of his tea.

“What?” She looked up from her task and inadvertently spilled a few drops.

“I said, I’m heading out of town this weekend,” he repeated, a little firmer and louder than she thought was necessary.

“To Boston?” she asked quietly, wiping her spill with a paper towel.

His trips back to Boston to visit his ex-wife and kids had become more frequent lately. He had visited two weekends prior. She believed the only reason he hadn’t gone last weekend was because he had to speak at a seminar for fire professionals. Each time he returned home, he came back in a bad mood.

“Yeah.”

“Why do you have to keep going up there, Ray?” Olivia whispered. She suddenly had lost her
appetite and removed her plate from the table.

As she entered the kitchen she turned to look back at her husband through the breakfast nook. She thought she saw a glimpse of guilt on his face.

BEJEWELED: A BEAUTIFUL BLEND_FRIENDS TO LOVERS EXCERPT

Slick with sweat and spent, they collapsed onto the bed. She rolled over and lay her head on his chest while they caught their breath.

“Ro, when was the last time you had sex?” he asked as he watched her muscles twitch while she lay next to him.

“Too long, baby.”

“How long?”

“Just over a year and a half.”

“Damn! Whatchu do in the meantime?”

“I got my toys. But hopefully after tonight, I won’t need ‘em no more. What’s this tatted on
your arm?” she asked, propping herself up on an elbow and tracing the curlicue letters on his right bicep with her other hand.

“Psalm twenty-seven and one.”

“What’s that Scripture?” she asked, looking into his dark brown, hooded, bedroom eyes.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

“Why that Scripture?”

“It’s one of those Scriptures I keep close to my heart to get me through times in my life when I’m weak. It’s just one of many. But I got this one when I was sixteen.”

“Your dad didn’t mind.”

“Uh-uh,” he replied, shaking his head.

“You always been spiritual?”

“Yeah.”

“So, whacha doin’ here with me tonight?”

Wesley smiled back at her, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Guess I lost my way, huh?"

Final Fab Friday Feature, Pamela Beverly...

It's the last Friday Feature for a while! I know, I know, I know...you love seeing the author line-up, reading exclusive interviews, and learning about new releases and cover reveals. All of that will be back and you can get notified of it by joining this blog. Simply click the "Follow This Blog," link in the right panel.

I have one final FABULOUS feature for you until then. And today's featured author is Pamela Beverly! Check out her interview...

CHELLE: Okay, Pamela, you know how we start this off. This can go either one of two ways. LOL!! Plotter or Pantser?

PAMELA: Definitely a fly by the seat of my pants type of writer. I usually know how my story is going to end, though.

CHELLE: Tell us a little about yourself? Who is Pamela the woman?

PAMELA: Friends and family will tell you that I am definitely a Pisces: Moody, sensitive and creative. I do have a sense of humor that I allow out of its cage every once in a while.

CHELLE: No wonder I can relate to you. Yes, I must admit we "Pisceans" are creative. LOL!!! We're not the moody and sensitive ones, it's the others who just don't understand. (**winks**). Seriously, how do you create work/life balance being an author?

PAMELA: Since I am single, I don’t have much of a problem with that except that I have to discipline myself on both issues. Lately, work has been winning the battle although I am working on remedying that.

CHELLE: Describe a day around your house and in your ordinary life where writing is not key.

PAMELA: I spend most of my day after work cooking, running errands when needed and cleaning up the house, catching up on my soaps, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful and trying not to fall asleep, lol!

CHELLE: I used to love soap operas when I was younger. My mom used to watch them and I became addicted. Didn't know they still came on. I digress. Anyhoo, most authors have a routine they settle into when they prepare to write. Yet, others toss routine out the window and go with the flow. Tell us about your writing routine.

PAMELA: When I have an idea in my head, I’ll just write it out virtually until I exhaust myself. I sometimes keep a tablet by my bedside because ideas will come to me in my sleep and they’re so fleeting that if I don’t write them down, they might be lost forever.

CHELLE: Pandora or iHeart?

PAMELA: I used to do Pandora; now I do iHeart.

CHELLE: I was the same way until I was introduced to Spotify. What would we find on your playlist?

PAMELA: Pretty much Adele’s 25. I love almost every song on her latest album.

CHELLE: Did you keep a journal or diary as a child growing up? If so, what secret did you not want your parents to read?

PAMELA: I kept a diary when I was in the seventh grade. They probably would laugh because I had a crush on one of my teachers as well as a boy that I nicknamed, Piano Man.

CHELLE: Mmm, I like that name. Sounds mysterious. Speaking of mystery, what genre do you write and why?

PAMELA: I generally write in the contemporary romance category although I have written a fan fiction short story.

CHELLE: What authors have influenced your writings?

PAMELA: The author S.E. Hinton influenced me when I began writing as a child, with her novel, That was Then, This is Now. I wanted to be S.E. Hinton after reading it! I also loved Taylor Caldwell’s The Captains and the Kings.

CHELLE: If you could pair up with another author to write, who would you choose and why?

PAMELA: Don’t think I’m sucking up but actually I would love to maybe collaborate with you someday. If not you, Delaney Diamond. She’s phenomenal.

CHELLE: Wow! I don't think it's sucking up, Pamela. I am honored to hear that. We'll talk after this. (smiles). If your latest release were turned into a movie, what actors would you select to play the starring roles, and what music would comprise the soundtrack?

PAMELA: I would really have to think about that. Maybe Idris Elba could play Frank, my main male protagonist. Keith Urban could be the secondary male character. I have no idea who would be able to play Delilah, the main female character. There’s a woman on the Food Network channel who has a cooking show, Southern at Heart, that could probably play her (laughs). I can’t think of a star in Hollywood off the top of my head that fits.

CHELLE: Two very attractive men. And the wonderful Idris!!! Ahhh...Okay, let me find my fan, it's getting hot in here. Honey, I think most of us authors would be fighting over having that man star in our movies. If only he knew. He'd be richer than richer, cuz he's in hot demand. LOL!!! I've gone way off track here, let's get back. How do you handle writer’s block?

PAMELA: I don’t do much with it, until it passes. I know, that flies in the face of what most writers say you should do. Except there was a time years ago that I took the advice I read once about writing in a genre that you normally don’t write in, which resulted in the two-part fan fiction Western I wrote.

CHELLE: I have never tried that. I usually continue to write, too, but I'll have to try that someday. Mountains or the beach?

PAMELA: I love them both.

CHELLE: Provide one marketing tip for upcoming authors that has worked for you.

PAMELA: Participate in other writers’ blogs. You’ll make a lot of “friends” and you can learn a lot from them although you have to learn how to discipline yourself regarding the time you spend on them.

CHELLE: I agree. If there was one thing you would want your readers to know after reading your works, what would it be?

PAMELA: That I immerse myself in each character and I hope that that comes through when they’re reading.

CHELLE: Pour it all out on the pages. Writers often have to forsake time with friends and family when deadlines are looming, or the creative muse is flowing. What one person has been your greatest supporter on your publishing journey?

PAMELA: Being that I had my novel, Relations, published before I let my family know about it, I was pretty much like a monk. But an earlier manuscript I would have to say is my baby sister, VaLerie. Surprisingly, those men that have read Relations have been very enthusiastic about it.

CHELLE: I'm sure your family must have been extremely proud of you. Pamela, describe your idea of the perfect “me-time.”

PAMELA: Perfect me-time? Sleeping. I don’t get enough of it. I know, that probably sounds pathetic (laughs).

CHELLE: Girl, I'm right there with you. Okay, so I've seen many ways in which we sync. But this is going to be the tell-tale sign for sure. Kobe or LeBron?

PAMELA: LeBron.

CHELLE: Oh well. We'll agree to disagree. LOL!! We live life beautifully inspired here, at The Beautifully Inspired Blog. Leave us with an inspirational post, comprised of three words.

PAMELA: From the song, Mama Used to Say, by Junior: “Live Your Life.”

CHELLE: Alright readers, you heard the woman: "Live your Life!" You only get one, so don't blow it. I love that song by the way. My sons played it last year every time they played some basketball game on their X-Box. Alright people, it's been lovely. I'm so glad you dropped by. I hope you live your life Beautifully Inspired!

Don't forget to pick up Pamela's novel, Relations now on Amazon.

So Your Friend Became Your Supervisor; Now What...

1/28/2016

madamenoire.com
Sometimes we're blessed to find a place of employment where we work well with our co-workers. Then there are those times we are fortunate to actually enjoy being around those people. You're seldom fortunate to find those who you can not only pray for and vice versa, but pray with, too. Someone who you both feel comfortable sharing the details of your life, your hopes and dreams. But what happens when that co-worker who you once felt close to suddenly becomes your boss?

The transition from friend to boss is not always an easy one. There are many things that will change as a result of this new dynamic, but you can remain optimistic.

The primary change that will occur is the expectations from your new boss. You must communicate to understand what is expected from you, and convey what you expect from your supervisor. Yes! You should and do have the right to convey your expectations from him/her; whether it is communication expectations or resource support enabling you to perform your job.

One of the more significant and probably impactful changes will be how you communicate. Where you may have gossiped with him/her in the past, or shared personal details of your own life this changes. You can retain the friendship without divulging the same information you once would have when he/she was a co-worker.

Eliminate gossip about other co-workers. Your new boss now holds more knowledge of others' situations. And as the new boss he/she must maintain confidentiality. It also paints you in a negative light if you continue in this mode, knowing their position.

Where you once couldn't wait to share personal information with that person, this is over. Find another trusted person, perhaps someone outside of the organization to share with. Unfortunately, those things you once trusted them with may weigh on decisions they have to make regarding you. Although you want to believe they care for you and would never use vital information against you, truth is you're wrong.

Any situation that could impact how you perform your role and when you perform your role can be used against you. He or she no longer has an obligation to you as a friend, their greater allegiance is to the company. Hold your gossip close and your personal information closer.

Other changes may occur as a result of having this person in their new role. The expectations of how and where you perform your job may change. Your schedule could change, along with other factors you have always counted on. Regardless of whether the role reversal is beneficial or not to you, maintain a positive attitude. Even when situations occur that you believe are unfair. Continue to work as if you were working for the Lord, and He will bless you in all you do.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Colossians 3:23-24

I want to leave you with one other thought. Continue to pray for him/her as you did when you were co-workers. Your new boss still needs that, and so do you.

True To The Game...

It's another #writerwednesday and today I'm sharing an excerpt from Book 4 in The House of BeJeweled, BeJeweled: Standing Strong. Yes, readers, Angel, Black and Kianna return with more drama than ever before. Book four is going out with a bang!

“Three men were found dead in what appears to be a drug related shooting on Whitehall Street in Southwest Atlanta. APD homicide detectives say shots fired in the neighborhood are a common occurrence; however, when residents awoke to a dead man in the middle of the street this morning and two more on the front lawn of a house, calls begin pouring in to nine-one-one. The victims have not been identified yet, until family can be notified. However, neighbors say one of the victims was a long-time resident in the neighborhood, and the other two men were frequent visitors. The house has been identified as a drug house by some residents who refused to comment on camera. An investigation into the murders is ongoing at this time; however, police say the attackers and victims are one and the same. This is Chanel Maldonado with WCAT channel three news.”

Flicking off the TV, Black looked at his cellphone sitting on the little glass coffee table in front of him. He thought about calling Sweets, but decided to hold off for a while. He was thankful Sweets had been mindful enough to pass his phone to Angel. She had been the one to pick him up from the hospital and take him to his apartment. Still angry and not willing to discuss Kianna’s visit, she had stayed with him long enough to make sure he was settled at home. Just before she left she had remembered to give him his cell phone back.

He had a lot to be thankful for. He recalled how Angel had worked with Sweets to make sure the rent and utilities remained on at his little apartment. It had been a temporary place to lay his head after his break up with Kianna. But as he looked around and thought about the changes he wanted to take place in his life, he realized he needed to find a place he could consider home.

His cellphone buzzed pulling him from his thoughts. Glancing at the caller ID a number flashed across the screen. He struggled to recall the number. That was a major problem for him these days. He didn’t save phone numbers in his phone for security reasons, with the exception of his mom, his brother and sister, and Angel. He always remembered numbers by heart, because he was good with numbers. But now he was at a loss.

He punched the green phone icon just before the call went to voicemail. “Hullo?” he hesitantly greeted.

“Thirty-six.” Sweets no-nonsense tone greeted him from the other end of the phone. That was a number Black did recall. Thirty-six was their code word for the job was done.

“Status?” Black asked.

“Clean. No strings, move forward,” Sweets replied.

Hey, boo! It's Tuesday and I'm back. Today I got two things for you. Then I have to get back to this silk wrap I'm doing on this girl in my chair.

Okay, here's Tyrone's two:
  1. Girlfriends, stop tryna catch a man by having his baby. These two heffas that just left this salon did the exact same thang, with they triflin' selves! One girl was mad because her boyfriend left her for somebody else. So what does she do? She goes off the pill, and invited him over for some "make-up sex." She claims she thought if she had his baby he would come to his senses and they would get back together. He does his thang a coupla times and she comes up pregnant. Now she mad cuz he don't want nothing to do with her or the baby! She got the nerve to complain all he doing is paying child support, but won't spend time with that baby. Little girls...ain't no baby gon' make no man want you. He either want you or he don't. Having his baby to control him, gon' make him hate you. Do what you need to do to keep the man in the first place, and you won't have to play these little girl games. Then the second chick gon' talk about she thinks that's what she's 'bout to do to settle her man down! Fool! Didn't you just hear what yo' friend said? It didn't work, nutcase! Somebody please go check these fools in on the 15th floor at Grady!
  2. Boo, when somebody tell you yo' tracks showin' stop thinking they hatin' on you! Everybody ain't hatin' on you. Some folks got betta things to do than worry 'bout you. If they cool enough to bring it to your attention, honey be gracious enough to thank 'em, fix yo' tacky weave and keep it movin'! That's another problem I just had up in here. This diva gon' have the nerve to get upset, cuz another classier diva brought to her attention her tracks was showin'. She'd betta be glad she was sittin' waiting for Belinda to do her hair and not me, cuz I would've told her a thing or two!
That's my Two for now, baby! I gots to get back to this silk wrap. So click the "Follow This Blog," link in the right panel to get more author interviews, excerpts, book releases, Chelle's 21 Days of Love and March Madness, and more of me, Boo!

Weaker and Wiser...Are They Really Wiser?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/17/saggy-pants-ban-in-chicag_n_1016006.html
What happened to our children? I recall a time when children had the highest level of respect for adults, and their words and presence meant everything in the world. I recall when children were fighting and an adult came on the scene, everyone instantly broke up. Or if they were caught saying a curse word there was genuine remorse. This is no longer true. Somewhere along the lines that seems to have fallen by the wayside. It reminds me of the old saying my great-grandmother used to have, "Each generation will get weaker and wiser."

Make no mistakes about it, some people think that's a Scriptural reference. It's not. Just an old saying. Yet, it's so true. I used to ponder on that all the time, but I see it so clearly now. Today's generation have exposure to an abundance of information and contain a wealth of knowledge that was not at our disposal.

I don't believe they are truly wiser per se; however, I do believe they hold more knowledge than previous generations of the same age. It's not that they could not be wiser with the knowledge they have, yet they choose not to. This is where they fail to have wisdom.

Weaker? They do not possess the self-discipline, maturity, self-control, or respect for themselves or others that other generations did. They are more apt to giving in to the desires of their flesh and striving to fit in to the status quo of society.

Children today believe they have more maturity and understanding than their parents, because they have more knowledge in certain areas than adults do. Yet, this does not mean they have more overall knowledge. And these poor misguided souls really believe they can go into the world and survive and prosper successfully, without parental or adult guidance. They really believe they have all the answers.

Where did the respect go? Where did the love go? Where did the parental sacrifice go? What happened to the values and morals we were supposed to teach? Most importantly what happened to leading by example?

These words which I type aren't true of all children, but it is certainly true of a large segment of the youth and young adult population. If you don't believe me simply turn on the news, go to a local school, or youth event.

Show them, lead them, guide them...by love, patience, and understanding.

Truth Hurts...

It's a Writer Wednesday and today I'm sharing an excerpt from book 3 in my House of BeJeweled series. When a woman is pregnant she needs the love and support of her family surrounding her. But what's a woman to do when her mother and husband refuse to see eye-to-eye?

TRUTH HURTS :

Being separated from Carlos had been the best decision Nikki had ever made. Sometimes, she found herself missing him, but she no longer lived in fear. She was growing in ways she had not anticipated. The hardest decision she had made after leaving home had been to tell her mother the truth about her pregnancy. Briselda was not thrilled to hear her daughter had stepped outside of the marriage. Her mother was a devout Catholic and there were some things that were just unthinkable. Once they were able to move past the screaming and tears, they sat quietly to discuss her future and plans. Her mother’s love won out above the anger, and she stood by Nikki’s side.

“Mami, I’ll be back. I’m heading out to dinner with Carlos,” Nikki called, grabbing her purse from the breakfast bar in the kitchen.

Her mother, still stirring the pot of stew, looked over her shoulder and called out, “Are you sure, honey? I’m making carne guisada puertorriqueǹa with extra capers just like you love for you and Yamile.”

Nikki saw the disappointment etched in her mother’s features. “Mami, you know I’m always hungry. I’m sure I’ll eat some later tonight when I get in. We’re just gonna grab a quick bite to eat, nothing fancy or big.”

“Mm-hmm. Well, he’s always welcome to come in for dinner,” Briselda half-heartedly invited.

Nikki knew that was anything but true, but she refused to argue the point with her mother. She knew Briselda didn’t want Carlos there anymore than he wanted to be there. Although he had been changing his ways, the relationship between him and her mother was still hostile at best.

“We’ll be alright. I’ll see you later,” Nikki called, opening the front door. She knew her mother always worried whenever she left to go with Carlos. But Nikki no longer shared her fears.

Carlos had purchased a 2009 Toyota Camry after she had left home. She was proud that he really was working hard to get his act together.

He opened the car door for her helped her in before running around to his side. She glanced in the passenger side mirror and caught a glimpse of her mother standing in the doorway with her hands on her hips.

It's Tuesday, baby!!!! And while Chelle's off dealing with some other thangs, I'm coming to bring some fun, chile.

Boo, I'm never around for throwback Thursday, so I'm gonna do Take-It-Back Tuesday with Tyrone. Why? Cuz I can! It's my show on Tuesdays and I do what I wanna. How many of y'all was around in the 80's? Don't be lying child pretending you wasn't...I can look and guess yo' age.

Anyhoo, we had some style, but some of that stuff was just whack, girlfriend! Check this out, boo...
Picture
For real? Why did anybody think that stuff was cute! Half the time it was too darned hot to be wearing some leg warmers? And what did they accomplish anyway! My mama started wearing those thangs and honey, you couldn't tell her nothing!
Picture
My mama and auntie Charlene wore Lee Press On Nails faithfully! That was before women, at least sistahs, were big on manicures like they are now!
Picture
All the girls had one of these at home in their room. Don't get me started on party night! Chile, memories. Whoo!
Picture
Which one of y'all had this in your medicine cabinets? Don't lie, boo. I know you had at least one of 'em. I wasn't the only one with bad skin. I ain't gon' lie, I kept me some Noxzema on hand. And Alex might get mad, but seeing as how he's my bestie, I can tell. He kept Sea Breeze around. We might've had skin problems then, but we're gorgeous now, baby!
Picture
And what about these sponge rollers? Y'all remember these? Chile! Some of them chicks used to show up at school with them grooves in they hair from the clamps on the rollers. And don't forget the chicks with the frizzy ends from wearing these! Honey, y'all was a hot mess back then!

Prologue

“The rumor is three black boys killed your parents. Is it true?”

Perched on the edge of his cot, Noah Charleston lifted his eyes to look at the four half-men standing before him. The leader of the pack, Mitch, was sixteen with a baby face, braces and bad acne around his chin. His two muscles, twins Roger and Wylie, were about a year older at seventeen. Both were built like linebackers. Finally, the Whiz, or Matthew a slender fifteen year old with glasses that took up half of his face was the brain of the group.

“Answer him,” Roger prodded, stepping into the small cell.

Noah shrugged. “That was a year ago.”

“We can do something about that.” Mitch popped his gum. “Join us.”

Noah had heard about the “Avengers” as they dubbed themselves. They ruled the juvenile detention hall and dressed in their version of combat gear: khaki pants, boots and camouflage shirts. Even the counselors were afraid of them.

Noah kept to himself. Everyone pretty much left him alone. Except for today.

He looked up at them. “Do I have a choice?”

Wylie stepped forward. “Do you want me to help you make up your mind?”

“How about I help fix that ugly face of yours?” Noah threw back.

Wylie sprung at Noah. Noah jumped to his feet and sidestepped the much bigger guy. Then he bashed Wylie in the back of the head. Roger lunged at him.

“Quit it,” Mitch bellowed. “Leave him alone.”

Roger’s chest heaved but he backed off. His eyes held a threat. Noah met his gaze, daring him to bring it.

“I like your heart,” Mitch said. “We need you.”

“I like my own company,” Noah said.

“We have something you want,” the Whiz said. His voice was barely above a whisper. He wheezed his words as if he was always in need of an asthma pump.

“You don’t have—”

Noah’s eyes widened. The Whiz held a crumpled 3x5 photograph in his hand. Noah snatched it, “Where did you find this?”

“We have our ways,” Mitch bragged.

Noah squinted.

“I hacked into the computer system,” the Whiz said. This time he coughed at the end of his words. “I know who took your picture.”

“We’ve handled him.” Mitch’s tone was solemn.

“That’s why you should be thanking us,” Wylie said, rubbing the back of his head.

Noah looked at the photograph of his parents and closed his eyes to keep the tears from falling. It was his most prized possession. When he had been sent here to the juvenile home two months ago, Noah had placed it under his pillow before lunch. When he checked for it later that night, it had been gone. He searched everywhere but couldn’t find it. That was the first time since his parents’ funeral Noah had cried himself to sleep.

“Thank you,” he grounded out.

“Thank us by joining us,” Mitch said.

The Whiz held up a picture. It was an African-American by the name of Tony Billows who had taken it.

Noah clenched his fists. “Where is he?”

“In the hospital with some missing teeth,” Roger said.

“And a missing pinky,” Wylie added.

Noah blinked. He would have settled it with a well-deserved punch or two. Not doing Tony serious injury. “That was vicious.”

“It was a message. You mess with one of us you mess with us all. We’re a family,” Mitch said.

“The Avengers,” Wylie and Roger said in unison. They held out their fists. Noah had reservations but Mitch had used the magic word. Family. Noah wanted family. He made a fist and the boys all did a fist bump.

“The Avengers,” he said.

“Welcome,” Mitch said.

“Glad to have you,” The Whiz whispered. “Now, let’s get you some proper clothes and a haircut.”

Noah swallowed his reservations. He had a family again. Nothing else mattered.

Up Close & Personal w/Chelle Ramsey...

I have had the opportunity to interview several authors on Fab Friday Feature and it's been such a fun and enjoyable experience. I have a new line up for 2016 and I'm still searching for new faces to bring throughout the remainder of the year.

I decided today that I would put myself on blast the way I've done several other authors. So here goes...

Plotter or Pantser?

PANTSER until the end of time! But there again, I've learned the value of being a plotter. So now I have an outline that guides me and keeps things straight in my head, but I let the characters do what they do.

Tell you a little about myself you say? Who is Chelle the woman?

I’m still a little girl at heart who loves acting silly with my husband and kids. Someone who desires to see other people strive and reach for their dreams, and live their best life possible. But, I’m unorganized and chaotic on my best days. I’m a homebody who wants nothing more than to cuddle up and read a book or write another story. I’m usually up from sunup to sundown either attached to the computer or trying to coral my wild and crazy family. I love having family gatherings and entertaining.

Hmmm, creating work/life balance being an author? This is a joke right? I mean do I really ask other authors this? I guess so. Here goes...

I’m trying a new thing in 2016. I’m using a calendar that I pray with all my might I can stick to. There’s not much balance in my life and I have to get writing in whenever I can. I have to say I think I do a pretty good job at it, considering the lack of order I operate under.

A day around my house and in my ordinary life where writing is not key.

A day around my house might include my husband and daughter singing together, my baby boy aggravating everyone to no end, my oldest son trying to hide away from the world, and me bossing everybody around when I’m not attached to the computer, or Googling every single question someone asks. We usually gather in the kitchen during cooking time to talk, sing, laugh, dance and just have fun. The youngest two kids come in our room in the evening time to crash our space and try to resist our efforts to kick them out. They’re still big babies although they’re teens.

Most authors have a routine they settle into when they prepare to write. Yet, others toss routine out the window and go with the flow. Here's my writing routine:

I simply need a snack, music and something to drink. I have to be in my most comfortable writing clothes ever, a house dress, and shorts or sweats and t-shirts.

Pandora or iHeart? What would you find on my playlist?

Pandora and Spotify for me. I listen to iHeart every blue moon. I’ve always been a die hard Pandora fan, until other authors who’ve had this same interview shared Spotify with me. You’re likely to find Yolanda Adams, Anthony Hamilton, Jill Scott, Ledisi, Chrisette Michele, and Erykah Badu on my Spotify. On Pandora anything from country to R & B, or Jazz to classical, or hip hop to Soft rock. I love music.

Ahh, here it is. The million dollar question, did I keep a journal or diary as a child growing up, and what secret did I not want my parents to read?

I definitely had a diary as a child growing up. As to the secret I didn’t want them to learn about…I’m writing a book on it now. Stay tuned! LOL!!!

The genre I write and why, and influential authors:

I write women’s fiction because it explores so many facets of the human life. It isn’t narrowed down to one aspect, such as mystery, spiritual, romance, and similar genres. I can look at any real life situation and explore it in depth and give verve to the issue at hand. I can allow my characters to rise above the situation or adversity in the most unlikely of ways. I would have to say Terry McMillan and Danielle Steele have impacted my writing. I grew up reading those two, and I love them.

If I could pair up with another author to write, who would I choose and why?

I would probably pair up with Terry McMillan, Denene Milner, Michelle Stimpson, or Pamela Samuels Young. I love the flow and energy they bring to the pages and the flawed characters they deal with.

If my latest release were turned into a movie, these actors would be chosen to play the parts, and this music would comprise the soundtrack:

Check out the Pinterest board for all of those characters, because I’ve definitely created them. However, let’s start out with saying Valarie Pettiford would be the inspirational Olivia, Tika Sumpter as the timid yet strong Angel, and Jwaundace Candece as the broken, yet empowered Nikki. There are so many more, but you’ll have to check the boards to see.

The music would be a mixture of jazz tunes from Najee, Boney James, Euge Groove, Dave Koz, and similar artists. There would also be tunes from Anita Baker, Keyshia Cole, Monica, and Anthony Hamilton. Of course, Keyshia's "Let It Go," would be there for Angel and Kianna.

How do I handle writer’s block?

I don’t allow it to become an option. I continue to write, whether I start a new story, or force something that I’ll later change. I don’t allow it to hinder me. If I absolutely must take a break it’s to do something with the family, read, or listen to music.

Mountains or the beach?

I’m probably the first to have this answer, but it would have to be the mountains for me. The quiet beauty of those glorious sunrises and sunsets, and the absolute serenity of being away from the hustle and bustle of life means the world to me.

Provide one marketing tip for upcoming authors:

Be open to sharing your platform with others. Opening your website, social media or blogs up to share other authors allows them to reciprocate and also introduces their followers to you. But the greatest part is the connection you build with them.

One thing I would want my readers to know after reading my works:

No matter what situation you face in life, you can rise above your limitations with belief in yourself and faith.

Writers often have to forsake time with friends and family when deadlines are looming, or the creative muse is flowing. The most supportive person on my publishing journey:

My husband, Marvelous Marv, hands down.

My idea of the perfect “me-time.”

Cuddled in my bed with a good book and some soft jazz playing in the background. Not having any deadlines or nowhere to get up and go the next day.

Kobe or LeBron?

Really? Bryant all day, baby!

We live life beautifully inspired here at The Beautifully Inspired Blog. Therefore, I will leave you with an inspirational post, comprised of three words.

Love without reserve.

When The Glass Overflows...

Picture
Today's a throwback Thursday and I'm sharing an excerpt from one of my first novels. Davina is feeling a bit lonely tonight. With her husband and children away, she's thinking about meeting up with a special friend.

Will her loneliness lead her to trouble? Is The Grass Really Greener on the other side when your husband takes you for granted?

The walls of the apartment were brick, with one wall filled with windows spaced approximately two feet apart. The windows ran from the top of the ceiling to two feet above the floor. Wood floors polished to a high gleam ran the length of the space.

Davina’s eyes were easily drawn to the thick wood beams hanging overhead. To her immediate left in front of the bank of windows sat a black, shiny Steinway, with a caramel colored leather couch positioned beside it and two matching footstools in front of the couch. Beyond that was a small dining area that faced built-in book shelves on the wall, which stood opposite the front door. To the right was the kitchen area, showcasing high end appliances all lined up on one wall. Dividing the living space from the kitchen area was an island with a built in range, a hood exhaust dropped down from the ceiling over it.

“I didn’t know you played,” Davina said indicating the piano on the wall to her left.

“Most people don’t know. It’s my special way of relaxing, to get away from the exercise, the business of running my gym, the lonely nights…” he said as he pulled her into his embrace.

He bent his head down and pressed his lips against hers. They softly kissed with a light dancing of their tongues. He pulled out of the embrace first and led her to his couch to take a seat. He walked to the wall with the bookshelf, which held an opening that led to a small open closet.

He switched on the radio and soft rock music poured from speakers located somewhere in the ceiling. She watched him as he went into his kitchen and pulled out two glasses and a bottle of wine and poured some for them. He walked back into the living area and sat next to her on the couch.

Handing her a glass of wine he smiled at her, “So what brings you my way tonight?”

“I needed to get away from the lonely nights,” she countered with a slight smirk. “You have a beautiful view of Olympic Park,” she pronounced, changing the subject with a sudden abruptness and then sipping her wine.

“Yeah, I chose this specific apartment because of its view and the availability of the space downstairs to be converted into a gym. When the building had just finished construction I toured this exact apartment. My purchase offer was based on getting this apartment and if I couldn’t have it I was willing to find another place to live,” he explained.

“Wow, you sound like you drive a hard bargain,” she replied.

“Mmmm a little bit of that and I was willing to pay a pretty penny for it, too,” he confessed.

“Ahhh. I can relate because that was the reason we purchased our home. It sits on a beautiful lake in a well-lit community with cobblestone roads, and nice sidewalks and it has the small town feel we were looking to raise a family in. A close knit community where everyone knows one another,” she reflected.

“Soccer mom and all that jazz, huh?” he teased.

“Yeah, something like that,” she smiled, “a little bit of football, dance, basketball, softball, and singing lessons.”

“Sounds like your life is full and busy, how do you get to lonely nights?”

“Well it started off full and busy with both our careers; we took turns with our neighbors shuffling kids from one spot to another. It worked. When Ronnie was laid off, he took on the burden of it and I stepped back, focusing more on my career. But it wasn’t so hard by then, anyway, because the kids had gone to middle school and they weren’t participating in so many activities. I don’t know how I got to lonely nights, but I did all on my own,” she shrugged looking back out the window behind them.

“What changed?”

“I blame it on the business, he says it’s not. He feels like there has to be a lot of time invested to get it going and while I agree, I think he also has to take care of home. I don’t feel as if he’s doing that anymore. It’s like he’s married to the business instead of me; almost like there’s another woman,” she said, drifting off into thought.

“Do you think that it is?” he asked, with hopefulness coloring his tone.

“No, I honestly don’t.”

“So is that what this is?” Keith asked.

“What?”

“You’re getting back at him because you feel like he’s cheating on you? You’re trying to get him to pay you attention again?”

She sensed rather than heard the hurt in his voice when he asked the question, but she had to contemplate the question thoroughly. No it wasn’t about revenge; she was really feeling Keith.

She was careful about how she answered his question.

“I don’t know what this is, Keith. What I do know is that we met at a time in my life when everything was not going good. When I returned home, somehow we started a beautiful friendship. You listen to me and I listen to you, we share with one another and laugh together. You are genuinely interested in my thoughts and helping me improve myself. Everything in my life has always been family centered, including my friends. Everyone needs my support and friendship, and I nurture them. But I have no one that I can get that from in return. Not until you. And I don’t know where this is leading, but I like it and that scares me,” she confessed.

“Davina, I like it, too. And if it’s any consolation, it scares the shit out of me, too. I look forward to seeing you come in the gym every day and I’ve missed the hell out of you the past two weeks. But I won’t sit here and pretend like I know why you haven’t been coming around; I’ll just say it has been hell trying not to pick up the phone and call you. I missed you, Davina,” he stated.

She blew out a long breath and just stared at him for a moment. “I missed you, too, Keith,” she said before reaching up and taking his face in her hands. She kissed him again more passionately than they had before, as if she could communicate her desires to him in that one single kiss.

Why I Blog...

Hey everyone! It's another wonderful Writer Wednesday and I hope you're having an amazing day!

Blogging for me is an outlet of expression. Some find it to be too much maintenance with their daily routine, while others find it challenging to keep the topics on point and engaging.

I won't lie sometimes I sit and stare at a blank space on my screen, trying to figure out what to blog about. There are times that I don't even have the energy to write posts on a particular day. However, I eventually find something to share whether it's serious, creative, fun, or awe-inspiring.

I began blogging with the release of my first novel, Reflections of Promises as a way to connect with others online. I went more than a year working to find my voice and share what I was passionate about, reading and writing. I soon grew to love it and no longer looked at it as a necessity.

One of the things I most enjoyed about blogging was my book reviews at the time. However, I quickly fell away from that as people began to request book reviews and I wasn't in a place to be brutally honest about what I found. So I switched it up a bit and found different things to discuss.

In the summer of 2015 I changed from the Blogger platform and decided to host my blog here on my website. I work to rebuild my followers once more, but I continue doing what I enjoy most...sharing a bit of my world with you, exposing you to new authors, and inspiring you to live a beautiful life!

This year once again I will bring to you 21 Days of Love and March Madness in a blogging extravaganza. Yep, you guessed it, in February and March respectively. We have some new authors and some of the same favorites from last year. They'll share their work, pictures, and of course there will be some giveaways. So make sure you stick around for the fun and share the love.

Drop your comments below...And don't forget to join this blog to have it delivered to you daily. Simply click "follow this blog," in the right corner. Thanks and see you tomorrow!

Double Standards...

Heeyyy Girls! It's Tyrone. Let's talk, girlfriends! Why oh, why does every woman think a man want her just because he speak to her? Boo, ain't nobody looking at you like that!

I ain't mad that you feeling yo'self, baby, but he don't want you, boo! Why am I snapping? Because, just this weekend we were hanging out in the shop gossiping. Maya's boyfriend stepped up in the shop to pick her up, but he had to wait for her to finish her meeting with Mrs. O in the office.

We all know Chuck and he's cool. We know he love him some Maya, honey! So this girl steps up in the shop and she's all chummy with everybody. Well, Chuck know everybody in the shop except this chick.

He turned to me and asked who was she. No sooner than the words left my mouth to tell him, there go that big-mouth, Belinda! It went something like this:

Chuck: "Aye, yo', who's that?"

Me: "Sillionaire."

Chuck: "Who?"

Me: "She's Darla's niece."

Belinda: "She married, baby! Don't go there! Don't go there. You gon' make me tell Maya on you! Why you lookin' at her anyway?"

Chuck turns to me and points his finger at Belinda and shakes his head. I told him not to worry 'bout that trifling heffa, cuz she was on something else.

Women, sometimes men ask a question and it's not about him tryna get with you! It might be the way you carrying yo'self (loud and over the top), or it might've been something you said! Hell, you could remind him of somebody you know.

But for the most part you know how y'all females get! You do all this extra on yo' hair, makeup, nails, shoes, outfits and all that jazz just to get attention. Soon as you got it, there you go trippin! Whateva! (sucks teeth).

Why is it okay for you to ask who a dude is or even another female, but not okay for a guy? Girlfriends, all I'm saying is check yo'self. Stop with the double standards!

Okay that's my rant for today. I gots to go make my money, chica! If you need yo' 'do did, you know where to find me, boo! My card's below in case you forgot.

Don't forget to follow your girl, Chelle. And come back every Tuesday to check me out! Click "Follow This Blog," in the right panel.

Fab Friday Feature, K. Harris II...

I first introduced you to author K. Harris a couple of weeks ago, when we sampled Fate or Plight. Today, we’ll get to know more about the woman behind the novels. Join me in welcoming, author K. Harris to the Beautifully Inspired Blog. Don’t forget to show a little comment love and support.

CHELLE: Kanika, I love the versatility of your writing style and you left me immensely intrigued with Fate or Plight. With all of that, I can’t help but wonder, are you a plotter or pantser?

KANIKA: Actually I am a little of both. It all depends on the story and where my mind is when I begin a story. I plot the story in my head, then transfer it to paper. Pantser because I conjure up stories in my head on a regular basis and when I think I may go one way with  book, it’s never set in stone.

CHELLE: We have sampled your writing style, seen your creative design talents in your book covers, now who is Kanika Harris, the woman?

KANIKA: I am a wife and mother of three. My husband and I own and operate a janitorial service. I call my different professions multiple personalities. I am an author, a business owner, praise dance coordinator, and choir director. They are all as different as night and day, coexisting in one body. I love to joke around, laughing makes me feel good so I tend to act out a lot. Nothing is ever black, white, or grey with me, I think from too many different areas to give straight answers.

CHELLE: You really do wear many diverse hats. Balance is obviously something important in your life to maintain success. Most authors have a routine they settle into when they prepare to write. Yet, others toss routine out the window and go with the flow. What is your writing routine like?

KANIKA: When I wake up at four am, I handle my hygiene and settle in at my desk with only the light coming from the computer. I write listening to whatever genre speaks to me that morning; gospel, neo-soul, rap, blues, or just my Write Mode playlist on Spotify. I am hooked on Spotify. In the evenings when I return to my computer after handling the daily routine of family and work, I settle in with some French vanilla chai tea.

CHELLE: Girl! That’s my favorite! Sipping on a cup of French vanilla chai tea to soothe my nerves, or get geared up for writing is what the doctor ordered! I love the smooth, creamy taste. Okay, I’ve lost my way, let me get re-focused. LOL!!! The nosy part of me can’t help but ask, did you keep a journal or diary as a child growing up? If so, what secret did you not want your parents to read?

KANIKA:  I always kept a new diary on hand for the many secrets I held and overall get some things off my chest. The one secret was when, where, how, and with who I lost the v-card.

CHELLE: Yessss!!!! You’re the first author to honestly answer this question. All other authors have glibly passed it up somehow or another. Thanks for your heart, girl. I love it! I have to ask this question for our readers, although I have an idea what you’re going to say. What genre do you write and why? And what authors have influenced your writings?

KANIKA:  I started writing in the urban fiction genre but I have changed so much in three years when I first began. I love urban fiction, it’s something raw, and hood about it that keeps me interested. Sylvia Hubbard, EJ Brock, Francis Ray, and Brenda Jackson are some of my favorites all for their different styles of writing. Although they are as different as vinegar and water, they all appeal to me. Romance with some hood added in the mix, paranormal with some romance and suspense, romance with drama, and prestigious black folks with romance. Therefore, I guess I would be considered as a romance junkie. Lol.

CHELLE: If you could pair up with another author to write, who would you choose and why?

KANIKA: Sylvia Hubbard because I love her raw, street-lit and that book would be crazy.

CHELLE: If your latest release were turned into a movie, what actors would you select to play the starring roles, and what music would comprise the soundtrack?

KANIKA: The latest book I released was Fate or Plight, with wolves and witches. Idris Elba would play my character Idris King, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje would play Darian Stewart, Lala Ali would play Rachel, Phylicia Rashad would play Gail King, Anansa Sims would be Monica, Denzel Washington would be Uncle Luther… The list could go on forever but seeing as though these are some expensive people, it’s a good thing this is a hypothetical question.

CHELLE: I love your line up. Somehow, I’m not surprised that Idris Elba would play a starring role. When I first read about Idris King in Fate or Plight, that’s exactly who I thought of. He’s most of our fantasy man. It’s a good thing that he’s married, as are we. LOL!!! On another note, how do you handle writer’s block?

KANIKA: I read to get over writers block oddly enough. If I take my mind away from what is blocked I tend to get ideas. The key is not to stress too much and it will come naturally.

CHELLE: Mountains or the beach?

KANIKA: Beach, although I have sun allergies.

CHELLE: As an author I am sure you have encountered challenges in building your brand, and getting yourself out there. Provide one marketing tip for upcoming authors that has worked for you.

KANIKA: There is no such thing as too much promoting. Putting a face with the name has proven quite successful.

CHELLE: If there was one thing you would want your readers to know after reading your works, what would it be?

KANIKA: Some events are possibly true stories. I write from experience.

CHELLE: You shared with us earlier that you have many diverse roles in life. Each role is very unique in and of itself. So to piggyback on the statement you just made, how much do you pull from those experiences to craft your stories?

KANIKA: I would have to say too much at times. I am truly a handful, a very difficult person with a lot going on. My past, present, and secret lives play a major part in my characters personalities.

CHELLE: Writers often have to forsake time with friends and family when deadlines are looming, or the creative muse is flowing. What one person has been your greatest supporter on your publishing journey?

KANIKA: My dear husband of course. He was the driving force that convinced me to do this full-time and quit daydreaming about it.

CHELLE: It’s wonderful to have a support system like that. I’ve been getting that same push lately. But, maybe after I get a few ducks in order. Kanika, describe your idea of the perfect “me-time.”

KANIKA: It all depends on which me we are speaking about, (Multiple personalities). One is spending quality time with only my husband. Another is spending alone time in my prayer room, just God and me. My author persona is all about music, a clear mind, and my laptop would be the perfect me-time.

CHELLE: Kobe or LeBron?

KANIKA: LeBron, never been a Laker fan even when Shaq played.

CHELLE: Girlfriend, you just let me down. LOL!!!! Kobe has been my boy forever! Alright, it’s been so much fun chatting with you and getting to know you better. We live life beautifully inspired here, at The Beautifully Inspired Blog. Leave us with an inspirational post, comprised of three words.

KANIKA: Greatness dwells within!

CHELLE: Alright people! Listen to her words. "Greatness dwells within." After all, if you don’t believe in yourself, who else will? Be beautifully inspired and pick up some of, or all of K. Harris’ books on Amazon now.

Don't Judge, Just Listen...

Today is a thoughtful Thursday. There are many things in life that make you stop and say hmm...

No matter what you say about Eminem, you cannot deny the fact that his lyrics often contain powerful messages. Some people turn their noses up and say I don't listen to that type of music, or I don't much care for him. I am a Christian, too, but I listen to various music because of the message in the words. As a writer I attempt to write stories that will resonate with my readers, and that's exactly what his lyrics does with me.

Whatever your assessment may be, when you hear these lyrics you cannot help but focus on the hook and know that it often pertains to many of us in life. Whenever I'm up against a challenge, I get caught up in this song. It inspires and empowers! It's a truthful thought provoking message at its best.

When we're faced with an opportunity that only presents itself once in a lifetime, we have to put aside our fears, doubts, preconceived notions, and whatever else we have inside. It's time to be present in the moment, giving it all we've got, losing ourselves in it, and clamping down with our teeth, refusing to give up, give in, or let go! That's my mentality for 2016.

Don't judge. Just listen...

Love Slave...

Sometimes I have to question why I write. When I first started this journey I had no idea what was in store for me. My primary reason for never sharing my works with the world was fear of rejection. But after years of pushing me, I finally gave in to my husband's urgings and decided to become published.

Looking back on it with all that I  know now, I shake my head and I'm ashamed to admit that I thought that was all I had to do. Yep, I thought that just because I put a book out there and told a few people about it, it would do what it do. Foolish woman!

I had no idea of all the minutes, hours, days and weeks I would have to put in building my platform, attending to my social media sites, blogging, marketing, researching, and everything else that comes along with it. I had no idea of the days and nights I would have to sacrifice with my family and friends, because being an author would also make me a slave. A slave to something that I love and I'm so passionate about.

After all, I simply wanted to write. That's all I've wanted to do since the age of 12. That's when this journey started. And it was so much fun. Something I could pick up and do when the mood hit and something I could put on the shelf until I was ready to deal with it.

Little did I know that even at the tender age of 12 I was a slave to the muse. I didn't realize it was her that called me to stop playing with my Barbie dolls, or put down a good book I was reading, or walk away from that TV show to create a piece of work. The only thing I knew was that for hours on end I was entertained. But back then, I would put it down when I thought I was finished and start on a completely different project when I became bored with the topic. There was never a complete story...not until Mr. Professor X challenged me on it in 2001.

I no longer have that option. Now I find that if I become bored and start something else, all out of the blue a few months later she's calling out to me. Whining and crying like a little bitty baby. If I continue to ignore her she starts throwing tantrums and stomping all around the creative playground of my mind, kicking aside other ideas I have, ripping to pieces my thoughts and throwing them up in the air. Then she sits her little impish ass to the side and laugh at me and says "now what?"

Then of course, I have to give in to her and do what she wants me to do. That's the only way I can get back to what I want. Of course, just like a jilted lover who's excited that his intended is once again paying him attention, I perk up and smile. I look at the sheets of paper she's allowed me to crank out, like a satiated lover looking at the rumpled sheets he and his intended just soiled with their passionate love making. And I'm overjoyed and in love with her once more. She has my heart wrapped in her hands and once more we're getting along, until...

Oh yeah, these chains on my heart forces me to humbly request that you follow this blog. Simply click the "follow," "subscribe," or "email" links in the upper right corner. If you don't...I can't tell you the torture I'll have to endure. See ya 'round.

Ratchet Resolutions...

Happy New Year, Boo! I see you made it through to another year. You must not have been one of those chicks hanging in the hood with them dudes and their "celebratory gunfire!" Ratchet!

Me? I was hanging in a safe spot with family and friends, eating, drinking and being merry. Somebody asked me right after the New Year came in what was my New Year's resolution. Now they know I don't do that. All it is, is a bunch of lies about what you plan to do knowing you ain't gonna do it. But then I started thinking...maybe I will!

While everybody lying talking 'bout losing weight, saving money, going to church faithfully and saving themselves for the right man, I created a list of things I know I'm doing chile!

Here's my list:

1. ) Close Johnson Savings & Loan - What I look like to you? A bank? It ain't happening, boo. I ain't loaning no more ratchet folks money, knowing they can't pay it back. If you could afford to pay me back, you wouldn't be asking me for it in the first place. So stop with the sob story 'bout your hungry baby ain't got no milk, or you can't pay your rent! Baby, please, you get food stamps and WIC. And if you can't pay yo' rent, you need to find a place you can afford. You won't be getting any money out of Tyrone this year!

2.) Shut down Lovely Singles - What I look like? Match.com or Black People Meet? Baby, get yo' own man or woman. I ain't hooking nobody else up again. If she or he ain't feeling you, I can't help you, boo. The last couple I tried to hook up was Angel and Alex...and you know we still feeling the after shocks of that thang! If you don't know, check out BeJeweled: The Flight of an Angel.  I'm done with all that. I'm not here to hook you up. I'm here to make sure you be divatastic!

3.) Put up Merle's Magic Stick - Get your mind out the gutter, girlfriend! It's not what you think. Baby, don't be walking up in the shop, sitting in my chair, asking me to grow out your two inches of hair and think I'm not gonna add weave. If you want yo' hair to grow that's all I got for you, baby. And if that ain't good enough, then you gotta work with a diva, cuz it's gonna take love and patience to get your hair where you want it to be. So, don't expect me to work miracles. I ain't God.

4.) Be Honest - I'm done lying! I ain't lying. I will not be telling y'all that I'm not gossiping anymore, cuz I know I am. Soon as you get up out my chair and your tail hit the front door, I'm talking 'bout you. I'm telling all yo' business you shared with me, 'bout your baby daddy drama, your scandalous mama, and your daddy's po' trauma! I'ma tell it all. And I'm not making no apologies. When you leave, me and B.A.D. gonna talk about you. You shouldna told me. And don't think I'm scared, boo. If you confront me, I'll tell you I said it...ain't no shame in my game. Honey, I just might talk about you before you hit the door!

5. ) Promise to be Fierce as Ever - Yep, this year, Chelle renewed my contract to keep on blogging on Tuesdays. So, I'm gonna tell it like I see it whether you like it or not. I'm keeping it real every Tuesday and I'm sharing everybody's gossip, and I'm gonna promote my sistah, Chelle and you need to do the same. I'm gonna be just as bold, just as outspoken, just as fierce, and just as divalicious as ever!

Now! That's my New Year's Resolutions for 2016! Think it's ratchet? I really don't care! Just join this blog, boo. Click the "follow," "subscribe," or "email" link in the upper right corner to follow.

Oh, and don't forget to share your comments in the comment section. We want to hear from you. Mm-hmm. (Sucks teeth and rolls eyes!)

Anyhoo, I gots to go clock these dollars, so I'll see you next week.

Ta Ta For Now!

2016 Prayer...

Thank you for staying with me throughout 2015. I look forward to you continuing on in 2016 with me.

Heavenly Father,

May you bless the reader of this message and let Your light shine down on her/him from Heaven above. I pray that everything they stretch their hands to do this year will prosper. May they rely on You for strength where they are weak, and may they never succumb to the spirit of fear. I pray they choose to walk in the light of Your glory, and in the spirit of power, love and a sound mind that You give to them.

May You anoint them for great things this year and pour out double favor on their lives. I pray that they have the heart and desire to pursue their dreams and that they come to pass. Bless them Lord with more strength, grace and favor than ever before. And in all that they do, I pray that they would acknowledge You and point the way back to You.

Father bless them with wisdom to do that which is right in Your sight and may they surround themselves with those who walk in Your paths. I pray their environment and those they associate with are supportive of their dreams. Continue to bless them to be a blessing. I pray these prayers in the matchless Name of Jesus Christ.

I've got big plans for this year, so make sure you follow along to stay in the loop. You definitely don't want to miss Monday's post to see what's new on Motivational Monday Moments. I hope you like it.
