Synopsis:

Mya had a man at home that loved her, and supported her fully. Treshawn was a faithful man that gave her sex anytime she wanted it, but she met Marion in the club, and one blissful steamy sex scene in the bathroom had her wanting more of him. Mya knew that she wouldn't be able to stop seeing Marion even if she wanted to. He had her nose wide open, and her legs to. Mya knew she had to hide this romance from Treshawn, so the lies started getting bigger and bigger. She knew she couldn't tell her girls Latrice, and Ania, because they were trying to keep her from falling into the arms of what would be a terrible mistake....When the time came to choose how would she be able to choose between Treshawn, and Marion, because she has feelings for both of them...

Excerpt:

The alarm sounded at 5:00 a.m. alerting Treshawn that it was time for him to get up for work. He rolled over on his stomach and stroked Mya’s hair. He needed his usual dose of sex to make it through the day. He knew she was asleep, but that didn’t matter. She was in the best position to get him some without waking her up, but he knew once he inserted his pleasure stick inside of her she would come to life like she always do. He knew she never wore any underwear to bed, because that way he could always have easy access to his stuff whenever he wanted it.

She was lying on her side so he slid up close enough to her that he could insert himself into her. He eased his pleasure stick inside of her, and started pleasuring himself. He didn’t want to pound her too hard because he wanted to make sure she was good and wet so he could slide in and out of her with ease. Before he knew it, she was enjoying him as much as he was enjoying her. She started moaning and groaning as she rocked back and forth on his pleasure stick letting him knows that she liked what he was doing to her. She turned her head backward toward him so she could be locked in his embrace and sealed it with a kiss.

Since Treshawn knew she was fully awake he went right to the task at hand. He had his hand on her shoulder as he pushed himself deeper inside of her, and he had his other hand around her waist. Mya was really feeling him, but she knew she wanted to feel him even more so she rolled onto her stomach and he mounted her like a race horse. He raised her bottom and glided his love stick inside her while he fondled her breast. Mya knew that she loved the way he attended to her when he was making love to her.

He never rushed to get an orgasm like most men would do, he took his time and made sure she was pleasured just as much as he was. She was grabbing at the sheets as she raised and lowered her body to the sexual rhythm that Treshawn’s body was bellowing out. He was hitting it so good that she called out his name three or four times. She knew that sooner or later this feeling was going to end. They were both sweating like a couple of runaway slaves. The sheets were soaked from the sweat that was pouring from their bodies.

Treshawn grabbed the back of her head and was holding on for dear life. Somehow she had gotten up on her knees and now he was up on his pounding her like a butcher tenderizing a piece of meat. He had his hands on her shoulders forcing himself deeper and deeper inside her with each stride. There was no way in the world they weren’t going to reach a mutual orgasm.

Just as he hit his last stride before he erupted he grabbed her around her waist and pushed himself into her as deep as he could go causing her to lose control of herself as well. This was the type of sex that Mya lived for, and craved for from Treshawn.

BIO:

My name is Sherry Robinson, I am a native Chicagoan, I was born July with a birth sign of Leo. I am s a mother of two, and a grandmother of six. My love of reading is what sparked my interest in becoming an author someday. My favorite authors include Danielle Steele, V.C. Andrews, Stephen King, and Edger Allen Poe. With that interest, I began writing books in high school, and my dreams became my reality as I have now published a total of four books (Damaged beyond repair, Targeted, Targeted 2, and How do I choose).

In my spare time, I enjoy crocheting, reading, and spending time with my grandchildren. My more adventurous side has led me to travel to various places, such as Canada and Puerto Rico, and my hopes is to someday have the privilege of visiting every state in North America; I have visited 21 states so far and counting....

This Writer Wednesday, Dominique Watson is stopping by to showcase her new release, Murder For Justice. If you're like me and love a great mystery, this book will definitely leave you intrigued.

Based on the excerpt, she doesn't disappoint her readers or new fans, like myself. Read on...

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Kendall Harris never thought this would be his last 4th of July he’d celebrate with his daughter.

San Diego Homicide Detective Scarlett Fry is called to a home in the middle of the night on 4th of July. What awaits her is a brutal killing that causes everyone to be a suspect, but something doesn’t seem right. With a lot of motive and little evidence, Scarlett is up against one of the most twisted killers in her career.

She and her partner, Trey Carr, spend weeks tracking down evidence to convict a killer that they are convinced is right in front of their face. Just when it seems like Scarlett has found her “man” the case takes a turn for the worst and becomes a cold case.

When her main suspect ends up dead, Scarlett and Carr are confused more than ever. They must hunt down a serial killer that’s attacking families with a motive even Scarlett can’t understand.

Murder for Justice is the first book in a page turning series that introduces readers to a fire, red head detective that will stop at nothing to protect and serve her city.

EXCERPT

The Prologue

Fourth of July

“Dad, there’s more steak left in the fridge. Do you want me to get that, too?”

“Sure. Why not? We can have leftovers tomorrow.”

Mira and her dad were the only two people at their Fourth of July celebration. Her younger brother Reid was spending the night at his best friend’s house, and her mother was out for a “girl’s night out” with her four friends. Mira was studying to be a pediatrician in Maryland and was home in California for the summer.

Bending down low, making sure he wasn’t seen, he watched.

Mira walked barefoot into the gourmet kitchen through the back sliding doors. She placed the empty bowl on the island and walked over to the refrigerator. The cool air felt nice on her bare legs. She wore shorts and a swimsuit top for the occasion. She had been home for three weeks but had not used the infinity pool their family shared in the huge backyard. She would in due time. San Diego, California, wasn’t a hot city, but anybody who lived in the sunny state loved the water.

Smoking a cigarette…. Watching closely….

“Back,” she said.

Her dad, topless with swimming trunks, took the bowl of seasoned meat from his daughter and began to place it on the grill. Kendall Harris was a forty-eight year old System Software Engineer at IDP Communications, Internal Development Productions. He’d worked at the company for over twenty-five years and was a well-established employee. His six-figure salary proved his success. He was well on his way to retirement, but personal issues within the home kept him from settling down. His future wasn’t as clear as he would have liked it to be. It was important that his children saw their way through college.

Looking at his watch…. “The Fireworks should be starting in a minute.”

Mira and her dad sat quietly waiting for the downtown fireworks to start. There would be at least three different shows. With their home sitting high up on a hill in Point Loma, they could see all of downtown and the bay area. Their family always gathered to watch the fireworks, but this year it was just father and daughter.

And someone else was watching them.

After a few beers and a little catching up, the two called it a night. Mira went up first. Twenty minutes later after a long stare into the sky and another beer, Kendall headed into the house.

Clicked the lights off in the kitchen.

Turned the light on then off on the hallway stairs.

Cut the light on in the bedroom.

Watching. Waiting.

Mira heard her father on the phone as she finished getting dressed from her shower and got into bed. She slowly dozed off into a peaceful sleep. Kendall, restless from the busy day he spent with his lawyer, didn’t fall right to sleep. He lay in bed wide awake, unaware of the stranger outside his house.

Downstairs at the side of the house, the stranger let himself in through the back door. Sweat beads formed on his forehead as he was headed to commit his first kill. He crept silently, not making a sound as he made his way up the stairs and into Mira’s room. She lay fast asleep, not stirring from the person standing at the bottom of the bed. He left, heading for his final destination. The master bedroom.

The door to the Harris’ bedroom was positioned to the far right. If anyone walked into the room, he wasn’t noticed until he hit the corner. But by that time, if it was an intruder as it was that night, the occupant of the room wouldn’t know what hit him when that person finally made himself seen.

The intruder stood quietly around the corner watching Kendall Harris lay with his hands tucked behind his head in shorts and a tank top. Again, Kendall was thinking.

The intruder knew it was now or never. The job had to be done. It had to be done right. Time was of the essence. No longer hesitating, he revealed himself. Kendall immediately jumped up. Fear set in. Was it a robbery? Was he going to kill him? He didn’t know, but Kendall Harris’ instincts told him that this might be the last night of his life.

“What the hell! How did you get in here?”

The killer said nothing. He walked to the side of the bed that Kendall was on and attacked. With a brick in his hand, he swung, missing the first try, swinging to kill. The second time, Kendall’s forearm caught most of the blow. Kendall stumbled from the pain but kept his balance. He wouldn’t go down without a fight. He threw a punch here and there, but they were all full of air. Not one punch landed on the killer. The third time the same thing.

The killer hit Kendall right on the side of his temple forcing him to spin around and fall, hitting his head against the side of the nightstand causing a loud thump. Finally Kendall rested beside the bed on the floor on his back. He was knocked unconscious.

The killer stood over Kendall Harris in a rage, hitting him over and over again with the brick. Blood splattered everywhere but that was the least of his problems. He wanted to make sure Kendall Harris was a dead man… and, indeed, he was.

About The Book

Picture
Kira Seagram is frustrated by her husband Mason’s zeal for the Lord, so she pours all of her attention into her work and reserves her soprano singing skills for the shower. Kira would rather not use them if she get can’t the adoration and recognition she feels she deserves and doubts she’ll find singing lead for Mason’s choir. When a routine drop off at her son, Nate’s private school turns into a ten-year reunion with her ex-boyfriend, Quincy McAdams, Kira isn’t interested in Mason's half-hearted affection or willing to keep her voice to herself. With a firm offer from Quincy to help Kira cut a demo and possibly revive the love they let die, Kira has some choices to make. When Kira finds herself tempted to touch will she remain faithful to her husband or yield to the desires of her flesh?

Picture
When I rounded the corner Meena, my secretary, was standing in front of her desk smiling and waving at me. Her attentiveness and bright smile cut right into my investigation into why my marriage was beginning to fail.
“Hi, Meena. Did you miss me?” I asked, referring to the way she was waiting to greet me like a lap dog.

“Mrs. Seagram, you’re so funny,” she said, swiping her wispy brunette hair out of her eyes. “I’m so excited to see you because I can’t wait to see the look on your face when you go into your office.”
“Ugh.” I groaned, letting my arms droop at my sides. “You didn’t redecorate again, did you?”

“No. While you were at lunch you received a delivery and it’s mighty extravagant. I hope that after I’ve been married for ten years my husband still does things like Mr. Seagram.”

“Thank you, Meena. I’m sure it’s nothing out of the ordinary,” I said as I walked past her desk. I turned the knob and my stomach dropped to my heels. On the other side of the door a tall medley of flowers and fruit curled into a G clef awaited me. A smile spread across my face as I approached this massive fruit salad structure. I fingered the petals of the black orchids and inspected the assortment of fruits—pineapple chunks, mangoes, and strawberries covered in white chocolate. All of my favorite things were neatly assembled on my desk. Mason must have thought there was another dog sniffing around his backyard.

“Excuse me,” I said to Meena who was still standing in the doorway gawking at the flowers as
I picked up the phone and dialed Mason’s cell phone number.

He probably thought this massive floral arrangement would get me to join the choir and keep my affections at home. I would have preferred some new shoes. Shoot, for a new pair of Fendi pumps I’d churn out “I Go to the Rock” in a heartbeat and have them saints running up and down the aisle of our church in a minute.

“Praise the Lord!” Mason shouted into the phone when he answered. Why did he have to be all holy all the time?

“Hello, Mason.”

“What’s going on, my love? You usually don’t call me in the middle of the day.”

“You tell me what’s going on, Mason. Do you think that a little gallant gesture and some white chocolate will get me to work on the record with your choir?”

“What are you talking about?”

“You know exactly what I’m talking about. The floral arrangement—”

“Floral arrangement?” he queried, cutting me off.

“If you thought that an oversized wreath would get me to sing with that little gospel choir of yours, you’re wrong.”

“Kira, I did not send you any floral arrangement.”

Half listening to his spiel, I dug my hand into the center of the arrangement and removed the card. Without your voice my music is all blues and no rhythm. ~Q

I read the message again and flashes of heat coursed through my fingers. His vulnerability was sexy. Quincy McAdams had gone from a chemistry major to a music mogul and his life was still missing something. The words on the card spoke louder to me than Mason until he shouted into the receiver.

“Well, where did the flowers come from? I will not ask again.”

I know you all were expecting Tyrone today. But ladies, I had to re-schedule him for next week. And you're right if you guessed he probably wasn't too happy about that. But, it's my firstborn's birthday.

We're celebrating 22 amazing years with this young man, who I'm so proud of. He's my joy, my love, and my heart. Please join me in wishing my son, Corey, a happy 22nd birthday.

It wasn't always easy traveling on this road to get him here, but because of his loving heart, his father's and my perseverance...we're here. He didn't always agree with Mama and Daddy, but he never disrespected us by letting us know. Yes, he did things in his own way at his own pace, but he did it!

And my husband and I are super proud of him, and we miss him. Today, he's in Cincinnati and although we're 500  miles away, he's here in our hearts and with our spirits.

We love you, Corey.

Put Your Big Girl Panties On...

"Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough." Og Mandino

I have been on an emotional rollercoaster ride over the past few weeks. There have been highs and of course there have been lows. Sometimes, those lows can be so frustrating that it causes me to lose sight of my goal. That's a dangerous place for me to be, because then I begin questioning my path. I start re-thinking everything and doubting myself and others.

Yesterday, I looked at some of the people around me in church. And knowing some of their stories, I became inspired. I begin to reflect how they were able to beat certain odds and when things became challenging they did not give up or give in. But they put on their "big girl panties," and kept rocking on.

I told myself I need to put on my big girl panties, switch my hips, and keep strutting along, and do that thang! More often than not those challenges and road blocks we face, serve not only to build us stronger, but they enable us to appreciate the goal once it's accomplished.

Failure really isn't an option. But, we have to be determined to succeed, determined to put in the hard work, determined to be dedicated and focused until we achieve our goals.

This same thing goes for you. Stay focused, be committed, and put in the hard work to reach your goal. Whether it's in your career, your dreams, your health, your marriage, your relationship with your family, or whatever...Failure is not an option!

So baby, put on your big girl panties, quit whining and do your thang! Have a Marvelous Monday!

This has been your Motivational Monday Moment.

Fab Friday Feature...Stella Eromonsere-Ajanaku

Today's Fab Friday Feature author is Stella Eromonsere-Ajanaku. Her character Onome Keyamu is stopping by today, since Stella couldn't make it. Come on in, grab your favorite drink and let's chat with Onome.

Please tell us your name, your age and describe your looks to our readers.

Hello Readers, my name is Onome Keyamu. I’m thirty-four years old. I’m an African woman with brown skin tone, 5ft 10inches tall, blessed with curves in the right places – double D bra cup size, narrow waistline and wide hips. I have a ring on my belly button and a hidden tattoo elsewhere.

Where are you from originally and where do you live? Do you have siblings? Also share a bit about what you do.

Although I’m an Urhobo woman from Sapele in the Niger-Delta area of Nigeria, I’m British born and I live in Hyde Park, London, United Kingdom. My parents immigrated to the UK before I was born. Oh yes, I have an older brother, Tega and an older sister, Ufuoma. They are both married.

I’m a multiple award-winning TV host on HUSH TV, London. I run my own daily show - The Onome Keyamu Show. I interview celebs to find out about their diet and bingeing secrets.

Great. You love what you do. Is there any chance you have a crush on someone? If you do, describe him to our readers.

At the moment, I have an unbelievable crush on Roman Gordon, a Fitness Instructor I met on the train a few days ago. He is an alpha male, tall, muscled, sexy-as-sin man with a cut-edged humour. His banter leaves me reeling with laughter. I find myself acting so flirty and cheeky around him. I think it is the way he looks at me and the things he says. Very shocking most times.

Roman sounds intriguing. How did you meet? Was there anything remarkable about him and how you met?

Fate threw us together I imagine. I met him twice in one day. He was pressed flat against my breasts in London’s overcrowded train on my way home from work.

The remarkable thing about how we met was when I asked him to move his body from mine so I could catch some air, Roman totally ignored my request. When I pushed against his back with my knuckles, wow, his muscles did not yield, instead heat seared my fingers. A man who looks after his body is one to watch. I enjoy working up a sweat, so I was instantly attracted to his super-toned and well-tanned frame. And when he glanced my way, his piercing sapphire blue-gaze almost rubbed me of speech. But he thinks I’m rude and too outspoken.

Everyone loves a happy-ever-after ending. Do you think there is any chance wedding bells will ring anytime soon?

To be honest, I have no clue what I’m letting myself in for with Roman. The man excites and scares me at the same time. He is so mysterious, he never answers personal questions directly. I worry he has something to hide. Wedding bells is a bit of a stretch at the moment. Let us wait and see what happens on our next date.

No one is perfect. So what do you find annoying about the attractive Roman Gordon?

Ah…good question. I have noticed a big flaw for sure. Roman has a nasty temper. You don’t want to be at the receiving end. We had a tiff on our first date and I’m still reeling from how messy things got. Although, I gave him as good as I got. So we were even.

I wish you the best with Roman. Finally, what is the most embarrassing moment of your life?

Thank you, Chelle. I would say having to scream, ‘You’re squashing my breasts’, at Roman in the congested train was very embarrassing for me, for him and other passengers. I needed to get his attention one way or another. Lol! And I did get his undivided attention.

Thank you for having me on your lovely blog. I hope your readers find my personality interesting enough to pick up a copy of Tempting Desire. I want say thank you to all the readers who have already bought a copy.

Best wishes,

Onome Keyamu

My King...

10/22/2015

Picture
Today I want to celebrate my king...my husband. Why? Because I can and because he deserves it. What has he done special you say? Just being him. I don’t have to have a certain day to show my appreciation for him. I believe we need to show our spouses and family how much they mean to us every day. No day is guaranteed, and no one wants to be taken for granted.

He is a man of strength, integrity, and strong morals. I’ve seen him sacrifice time and time again for his family. And that includes his extended family outside the walls of our home. His is a thankless job, one that we oftentimes take for granted.

I watch him take phone call after phone call, attempting to resolve issues for family and friends. I watch him place his own dreams and goals on hold to support mine and the kids. I watch him extend so much patience and mercy, and people trample all over it. I watch him run up and down the road, to provide support to family and friends. Yet, no one sees the positive impact it has on the lives he’s touching, and no one knows the great sacrifice he makes to do it.

He chose me to be his queen and treats me like every bit of one. He has raised our daughter to be the wonderful princess that she is. He has raised both of our young princes to be strong men of God, respectful of women, and standing firm in their beliefs. He has taught all of our children, strong moral values and ethics. And his love is better than being born into royalty. I love my king...and he's my everything!

Regardless of what issues you face today, place them on the back burner and let your husband know that you love him. Recall why you fell in love with him in the first place. Focus and meditate on the reasons you fell in love with him, and foster that once more. Then don’t forget to tell him and show him. Don’t take for granted he knows.

Write About It...

Picture
I am such a fly-by-the seats pantser! When I write I allow whatever comes into my imagination and my spirit to flow onto the paper. However, all of that interesting content doesn’t always make it into my books.

I am organized in my own zany way. I have talked to various authors and bloggers who struggle with creating content for their blogs, or feeling productive in their writing schedules. I don’t know if it’s because I’m passionate about my writing (wish I was passionate about promoting), or what. But, I continue to crank out productivity when it comes to my writing.

BLOG POSTS: Every Friday, I sit down and create my blog topics and posts for the upcoming week. Once they are written and scheduled on my blog, I no longer have to worry about that.

SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS: I have not been as diligent as I was in the past about this. Now that I’m telling on myself, I have to commit to doing it once more. I use Hootsuite to schedule out my Twitter and Facebook posts. When it comes to GoodReads and Instagram, I could use Hootesuite for that, as well. I don’t. I have to be more involved on those two than what I am.

Using Hootesuite keeps me free from spending an excessive amount of time on Twitter or Facebook (my addiction). It also enables me to have my posts and tweets posted at the best time of day to boost engagement and interaction.

NOVELS: I live and breathe to sit down and create books. It is my heart’s passion and desire. I think about it when I’m sleeping, eating, working, living and everything in between. Therefore, I have to be careful not to let this take over my life. When I spend too much time on the computer, I am destined to hear about it from my family.

I commit to no less than two hours per day writing. Yet, I also make sure that one day per week I take a break from writing. It’s essential to my family’s happiness. If you cannot commit at least two hours per day writing, I suggest at least thirty minutes. In that time you can create a character outline, create ideas for a scene, or even write out a chapter, depending on how creative you’re feeling that day, and how fast you write/type.

In 30 minutes you can begin to create a calendar to organize yourself. Commit to checking your calendar daily (first thing in the morning), and keeping yourself on task. I love calendar alerts on my phone. They help me to remember everything that I must do. Not to mention the feeling I have after I have completed a task. Setting timers will also prevent you from going over your allotted time and keep you on schedule.

All I’m trying to say is you won’t be successful in developing and fostering your writing skills unless you nurture the relationship. Spend time on your writing, as you spend time on anything else. You can call it your “me-time,” if that helps. Me? I treat it as an essential part of my career. Just as my daily job requires me to dedicate a certain number of hours to it, this part of my career requires me to dedicate time to it, also.

Be committed! Write about it, be about it and live it!

Heyyy! You know what time it is…It’s a Tête-à-Tête Tuesday with Tyrone and I’m here! I know ya’ll been waiting all week for me, and I’ve got a treat for you. I’m sharing a snippet of what’s coming your way in Book 3 of The House of BeJeweled, BeJeweled: A Beautiful Blend.

When I say that Wesley ain’t nothing but a THOT, HE.AIN’T.NOTHING.BUT.A.THOT! Now I know Chelle don’t agree, but I can name a few women who do. They running ‘round here talking ‘bout #TeamWes…now, I’m not #TeamCarlos, but I don’t think I’m #TeamWes either. We had to kick #TeamBlack to the curb, I say we start at #TeamTyrone! Heyyy! I kinda like the sound of that.

But back to Wesley. Remember how he was all in love with Nikki? Remember how he was heartbroken over Deborah, his ex, before Nikki? Well, look what he’s up to now…

He was cleaning the room after his client had departed when he heard a knock at the door. Turning around, he saw Rory standing there with a mischievous smile on her lips.

“Hey, there,” he greeted.

“Hi, yourself,” she said, walking into the room closing the door behind her.

“What’s going on, girl?” he asked, turning his back to her and putting his bottle of disinfectant back into the locked cabinet. He walked to the door preparing to open it. He knew that it didn’t look good if the two of them were in the room together with the door closed. That wasn’t a game he liked to play, he hadn’t even taken that chance with Nikki. Although Mrs. Olivia was seldom around anymore, he knew she didn’t like that and he wanted to give her the same respect he would if she were here.

"Can you stop for just a moment? I know the rules, but I need to talk to ya for a sec,” Rory said, placing her hand over his stopping him from opening the door. Standing at 5’11” he towered over her petite 5’2” frame. She glanced up at him with an appealing look in her slanted hazel eyes, which he could not resist.

“Sure, what’s up?” he asked, crossing his arms over his chest.

“I just wanna apologize to ya. I know I’ve been distant and I’ve given you a really hard time these last few months. I know you musta been going through enough on your own without me adding to it.” She cleared her throat before proceeding. “I really cherish our friendship and I know ya do, too. It took a while for me to realize that you were trying to protect that friendship and I appreciate that, Wes. But, I want you to know that I’m very much attracted to ya. And while I know that you care about me and wanna protect me, I need you to know that I’m a big girl and I got me covered,” Rory said, pressing her hand against her chest.

She continued on, “I just want ya to give me a shot. If it doesn’t work for ya, I can handle it.” Rory had been standing in front of him while giving her speech. At that moment, she placed her hands on the side of his face and pulled him down towards her, and he didn’t resist.

She softly, but firmly pressed her lips against his. Caught off guard but not for long, Wesley placed his large hands on her small waist and then lowered his hold to grasp firm round hips. Rory moved her right hand behind his head and softly caressed his neck, encouraging him to go deeper with his kiss. Her tongue tasted like butterscotch in his mouth, and her kisses were soft and cool as they explored each other’s mouths.

Wesley didn’t deny her one single bit. If this was how she wanted it, then why should he deny her? He was done playing the good guy role, it hadn’t worked for him. Hell, Rory was a helluva girl, and neither one of them had ties to anyone else. Why not give her a shot? He thought. She rubbed both of her hands up and down his face as she began gyrating her hips in circular motions. He held her closer to him as she began to moan.

“Damn, girl, why here? Why now?” he asked, pulling back. “Come on, I gotta get you outta here before someone finds us.”

“Why? Ya worried about someone finding us?” she teased, looking devilish as the overhead lights danced around in her hazel eyes.

“Nah, but you should be. I think enough drama has been going on lately for us to be concerned about appearances.”

“Let ‘em think whatever they want to. We’re two grown consenting ass adults,” Rory charged.

“Consenting huh?” he asked.

She licked her lips and smiled at him. “Consenting like hell, baby,” she said, taking her tongue and licking his bottom lip.

He couldn’t tell if the pink coloring in her small puckered lips were from the lip gloss she wore, or the kiss they had just shared. But damn, them lips was doing something to him right now. He had thoughts about what he would like to see those lips doing.

“I tell you what, what you got planned tonight?” he asked.

“Whateva ya tell me to,” she taunted, as she licked her lips and smiled at him.

“A’ight, I see you. What time you get outta here?”

“I should be done by seven,” Rory replied.

“Cool, you flow on home, get changed up and I’ll pick you up about eight. How that sound?” he asked, lifting an eyebrow to see if she was game.

“Panties or no?” she asked, with a little fire and sass in her voice.

“Baby, it’s up to you. Cuz ain’t no damned pair of panties ever stopped me.”

Girlfriends…these trifling men around here ain’t no good! If your heart is hurting over a no good man, or you just need a little healing, come on down to The House…The House of BeJeweled.

Freeing The Butterfly...

Forgiveness. Such a simple word, but not a simple action. This is a heart action that requires a decision on your part. We’ve all been hurt, we’ve all been broken, torn and abused in some form or fashion. Whether the action was intentional or not, it has impacted our lives and our choices.

For decades I chose to hold on to the infraction that was committed against me at a young age. I chose to allow it to become ingrained in me, becoming an essential part of who I was. I allowed it to define me, to stifle me, to bound and chain me. I chose to become steeped in the pain associated with it. I chose to become the victim.

Being a victim is not easy for anyone. It’s not easy for you, it’s not easy for your family, friends, and anyone who loves or comes into contact with you. It’s almost like a communicable disease. Portions of the symptoms will grasp hold of those you come into contact with and taint them, too. They have no understanding of why, but they suddenly become a victim of the victim.

Our choices and decisions reflect the pain that we have carried around like a proud badge of honor. Then we take that pain and fling it around like a blanket, allowing it to smack those who come too close. They continue to support us, continue to try to protect, and continue to stand by our side. Yet, they begin taking on the pain and the hurt and they become stifled, suffering needlessly.

My husband has taught me that it’s time to free the butterfly within, time to release the bird from the cage, time to stand strong, empowered and victorious. Time to…in his words, “Believe in Who you say you believe in.”

I heard Steve Harvey say that holding on to bitterness and un-forgiveness, is like drinking poison and waiting for the offender to die. And that’s exactly what we allow to happen to us when we refuse to forgive those who have hurt or wronged us. We’re not forgiving them for them, but for ourselves. We’re working to cleanse ourselves of the poisoned pill of bitterness, self-pity, deception, and evil.

It is such a freeing and healing experience to let go of the past. I mean really…what are we accomplishing by holding on to the anger and not forgiving those who hurt us? We don’t have to be in communication with them anymore, and sometimes we do. However, we can be free of the evil that comes with that hurt and pain. We can be free to heal, to live, and to love.

After all…He forgave us didn’t He?

Operation Midnight...

It's a Fabulous Friday and with that being said, I want you to help me celebrate Sharon C. Cooper's new release, Operation Midnight! Book four in the Reunited Series, the title alone drew me in. There's nothing I love more than a hot-blooded, Alpha male and a tale of intrigue interweaved among the sheets. Uh-oh, I meant pages. Anyhoo, read along to see what Sharon has in store for us today.

Happy Release Day, Sharon!

Back cover blurb:

No bad deed goes unpunished…

Former Navy SEAL turned private investigator, Cameron “Wiz” Miller, has loved only one woman, his ex-wife, Olivia. She’s beautiful, talented and the sweetest person he knows. With plans to remarry her, there is nothing she could ask of him that he wouldn’t do except … one thing.

Olivia has loved Wiz since high school. He is her hero. Her protector. She understands his hesitation to search for the woman who left her for dead. Forgiveness has been a long time coming, but Olivia has made peace with what happened. Wiz hasn't. For him, forgiveness is not an option.

But the sins of the past have come back to haunt Wiz, placing Olivia in danger. He must tap into his military training and every alliance he has formed over the years to save her. But is it too late? Will he and Olivia ever get that happily-ever-after?

Excerpt

“I want her dead.”

Wiz paced the length of the small, musty cellar, his pulse pounding in his ears. He wished the steady drumming would drown out the anger seeping into his soul. Wound tighter than a man staring down the barrel of a semi-automatic gun, he took a few cleansing breaths to release the anxiety roaring through his veins. It wasn’t working. Nothing was working.

He kept moving. Except for his combat boots stomping against the dusty concrete floor and the low hum of a nearby furnace, the space was quiet. Gagged and bound, flanked by his two best friends, the woman who had slithered into his life and almost destroyed everything he held dear, sat glaring at him. She wiggled in the hard wooden chair trying to free herself to no avail. Her eyes, cold and unyielding followed his every move, making him hate her that much more.

He stopped and stood before her, feeling nothing but disgust. Red, glassy eyes and the slight shakes confirmed she was high. Hell, considering her condition, she wouldn’t even feel the torture he intended to inflict on her, but it would help him. It would help him try to piece his life back together. It would help him feel less guilt for not being on American soil to protect his wife. It would help him get retribution for the life this bitch had taken.

A life for a life.

“Wiz, think about what you’re planning to do here,” his friend Quinn said, his gloved hand propped against the closed door and the low rumble of his voice cutting through Wiz’s thoughts. “Let me handle this. I can take care of everything and you can head back to the hospital. Olivia needs you. Besides, you have too much to lose.”

“I’ve already lost almost everything and thanks to this woman, my wife is fighting for her life.”

Loving Her Man...

It's another #throwbackthursday here on The Beautifully Inspired Blog. I'm sharing a post with you from exactly one year ago today. This post was originally written on my previous blog, Writing My Dreams. I recall the anticipation I felt when I first begin sharing scenes from book 2 in The House of BeJeweled.

So many things were happening at once, and the original release date was pushed back by unexpected events. During this particular period of my life, it seemed as Book 2 would not see the light of day any time soon. But now it's here and it's right on time. Read on...

Welcome to #writerwednesday. Here on Writing My Dreams, you will have sneak peeks at upcoming projects that I am working on, or my published books available on Amazon. Today I'm sharing a snippet from the second book in The House of BeJeweled series, entitled BeJeweled: What A Tangled Web We Weave. This #wip has just been returned from the editor, I'm proud to say. I plan to begin the edits this weekend.

This excerpt comes from Chapter 7:
LOVING HER MAN

Nikki got off work a little earlier that evening and arrived home around seven. Carlos was sitting in the parking lot on the hood of a car with a few of his boys, when she walked up to their complex.

She smiled at him and said hello to his friends. Carlos turned up a bottle of Jameson, guzzling with one eye closed, and watching her with the other eye.

“Now that’s how I like my woman Carlos…big round brown, firm tight waist, and glorious thighs to take me to heaven!” his friend Jacob crowed.

Carlos pulled the bottle down from his lips and licked them, never taking his eyes off Nikki.

“Yeah man…that’s how my Tasha is,” another of Carlos’ cronies Bud teased. “Them thighs be good for gripping a man tight, and taking him for a nice warm ride on a cold winter’s night,” he cackled before puffing on his cigarette.

Nikki rolled her eyes at both of them. She couldn’t stand Carlos’ friends and he knew it.

“Alright y’all chill now. Hey Ms. Nikki, you have a good day at work?” Devon asked. He was the one person she could stand. But she wouldn’t consider him a friend of Carlos.’ Devon was a neighbor that sometimes stopped to talk with the other two dummies and her husband. He was married, but he was a real nice guy and Nikki often wished Carlos would hang around him more and the other two less. She had hopes that some of his good ways would rub off on Carlos.

“Yes, I did Devon. Thanks for asking. Honey, I’m going upstairs to cook dinner. I’ll see you in a while,” she said, turning to Carlos.

He still had not said two words to her, but he kissed her full on the lips, never breaking eye contact with her.

Nikki was fired up inside when she reached the apartment. Not only had her husband not asked about her day, but he had stood by allowing his ‘friends’ to disrespect him and her. She wasn’t some random common woman walking down the street they were commenting on, but his wife. What man would stand back and allow other men to make comments about their woman, in their face like that? Not to mention, another man had to step in, and curb their disrespect.
Am I really on display now? She thought. On days like this I wish…

“What Nikki…what do you wish darling?” she asked out loud. Shaking her head, she walked to the bedroom and undressed to prepare for a relaxing shower. But she needed some encouragement first.

Award Nominee...

It's a Wonderful Writer Wednesday and I want to share some exciting news with you. It is such a wonderful blessing to be able to do what I love most in this life...write. I have found that there is nothing more fulfilling than pursuing your dreams, and it's thanks to my husband that I began this publishing journey in 2012.

It has been a road filled with many challenges along the way. One that I must admit that I've enjoyed the journey on, and I wouldn't change a thing. It has also been marked with many learning opportunities. Because of this opportunity to pursue my dreams, I now use my blog to encourage and inspire others to do just that.

Well, I have a chance to continue chasing my dreams on a new level. I have been nominated for the B.R.A.B Christian Fiction and Women's Lit awards. This is such a privilege and an honor for me. I was blown away when President Sharon Blount tagged me in the post on Facebook. At first I thought, surely this is a typo. I continued to check the post out for a little while before it dawned on me that it was real.

I cannot describe the emotions that I felt upon learning that I was nominated for a Christian Fiction award. This feeling was compounded again on Tuesday night when I was also nominated for the Women's Lit award! Tyrone bragged about it on Tuesday, which I appreciate.

However, I would like to ask you my readers to please support me by visiting the link below. You must vote in all categories, but you can only vote once or it will delete your votes. I would love to have your supporting vote in the Christian Fiction and Women's Lit categories. Thank you so much for taking this journey with me. And don't forget to support some of your favorite authors in the other categories. Many talented authors have been nominated.

The Gift...

10/12/2015

A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great. Proverbs 18:16

We have all been blessed with God given gifts and abilities. Sometimes, we take them for granted, sometimes we believe they're undiscovered, and yet still, other times they're nurtured to their greatest capacity.

Whether your gift is sports, singing, playing music, dancing, medicine, building, drawing, writing, or reading it is yours. There are no two exact gifts alike. You may find two great dancers; however, the dance is different in both people. Why? Because the dream and the vision is different for both. Therefore, the way the dance is interpreted will be different, as each dancer demonstrates his or her gift.

This weekend I had the honor of being a nominee in the category of Christian Fiction for B.R.A.B. (Building Relationships Around Books). If you're a reader and you're unfamiliar with this book club, you want to go on FaceBook and join. It's one of the largest online book clubs there is, with a wonderful group of people who are very supportive of everything each other goes through, and loves to read.

I was blown away and completely caught off guard by this nomination. Because first...I wasn't expecting to be nominated for anything. Second, I write women's fiction, with romance, urban fiction, suspense, and Christian fiction intermingled in all of my books. Finally, I couldn't believe that I would be considered in the same category some of the writers listed were in. These are great women writers and it was not only a privilege to be categorized with them, but an honor.

With that mindset came the critical side of me, as I begin to question my style of writing, my books, the message that I intend to share versus the one that might be received, and the genre of Christian Fiction itself. Of course, as I begin to feel unworthy and question why (the enemy does that to us quite often), my husband begin to speak into me about my gifts. He spoke great words to me that I needed to hear, about my gift of writing, about my perspective on life, and what my characters do for others (especially Ms. Olivia). He also begin to point out how similar I am to her in some ways.

After we had our discussion, I begin to embrace the words that he had spoken over me. I begin to embrace a different perspective on my gift and to just thank and praise God for bestowing the gift upon me. What a mighty great blessing it is to even be considered. And I'm so thankful the ladies chose me to be a nominee.

Today, I want to encourage you to never count yourself out. To never belittle your gift, and to NEVER compare it to others. If so, the enemy will leave you busted, confused, and broken every time. Simply, be the best that you can be by nurturing your gift and praising Him each day for it.

Go out and nurture your gift today! Love you all and be blessed.

The Gossip...

In this week’s writer Wednesday post, Olivia has some concerns about Nikki’s marriage, but, Nikki has some concerns of her own. Read on…

“How have you been, Nikki?”

“Good.” The chattiness had come to a stop like someone turning off the faucet.

“Have you really been good?” Olivia inquired.

“I mean, no more or less than normal; why?”

“I’m concerned about you, sweetheart. And I just want to help.”

“I don’t need help. I’m fine,” Nikki fibbed.

“No, you’re not. Why won’t you let me help you, Nikki?”

“If everybody spent as much time worrying about them as they did worrying about me, we’d all be okay.”

“That may be true, too. But if we did, who’d worry about you? I think you’re blessed to have so many people that love you and only want the best for you.”

“Mrs. O, do you really think they want the best? Cuz to me it look like all anybody wanna do is get in my business and gossip.”

“Do you believe that about me?” Olivia asked.

Nikki sat quiet for a moment as she crossed her arms and stared out the window into downtown Atlanta.

“All I know is they always gossiping about everybody behind their back,” Nikki stated.

“You’re talking about my dynamic duo? Belinda and Darla.”

“And Tyrone. All they do is sit in there and gossip. Maya’s cool, but I just hate how they be, you feel me?”

“Yes, I do. Nikki, people will always gossip, and unfortunately, even more so in a beauty salon. Sometimes it makes for a fun and inviting atmosphere, when it’s all done in fun and love. But it isn’t always malicious or harmful. When it becomes that way, then I become involved, and I would like to believe I have done an excellent job dealing with it. Is there a particular problem that you’re concerned about now?”

“Yeah. Obviously people have been gossiping if you have me in your office.”

“Why do you believe that?” Olivia asked, furrowing her eyebrows.

“Because why else would you call me back?”

“I’m concerned about you. Ever since the incident at my reception, I have been concerned about you. Has something else happened in my absence?” Olivia wanted to give Nikki a chance to tell her what she had already heard, but she didn’t expect that she would.

“He put me in the hospital.” Nikki’s eyes grew wide, almost as if she didn’t know where those words had come from. She had shocked Olivia by confessing, as well.

Hot Mess Mama...

It's another Tête-à-Tête Tuesday with Tyrone. Honey, let me tell you something. You didn’t hear it from me. And the reason I said that is because I’m not gon’ tell you what happened. I’ll let you read it for yourself, girlfriend. And from that point you can make your own conclusions.

But, I will say this…Nikki’s world is about to be turned upside down! I wish her all the best, but something tells me there’s a little more to her story than we thought. I’ll let you read…

Nikki walked into her dark apartment that evening and placed her bags on the floor by the door.
She walked to the bedroom and sat her purse on the dresser alongside her keys. She looked at the bed, where Carlos had passed out from drinking. Against everyone’s advice, she had returned home again.

The day that Wesley took her back to her mother’s house when she had crashed his and Yvette’s date night, she had stayed with her mother a couple more nights. Her sister had spent some time with her and her mother. But no amount of prying the two of them did could get her to discuss the problems she had with Carlos. Her sister was excited about the baby on the way. Her mother was a bit more apprehensive. She had shared that as happy as she was to have a grandchild, she wondered if Nikki’s timing was right.

People often thought they had the best advice. However, Nikki had learned that no one could really tell you how to live your life, or what was in your best interest. If they hadn’t walked that walk, how could they judge or advise you on what to do? Sure, it was easy for Ms. Olivia, Wesley, her mom, and sister, Yamile, to tell her to leave her husband and not go back. But she had made vows of for better or worse, and Carlos was right. She couldn’t keep running out every time the going got tough. Nope, she was determined this time she would stick with her husband and get him the help he needed.

Looking down and rubbing her belly, she thought about the life growing inside of her. She didn’t know if it was Carlos’ or Wes’ baby, but what if God was sending this baby as a warning for her to get her life together? Maybe he was giving her and Carlos a second chance. She had prayed and asked for this baby. And it seemed as just when she began believing maybe God did exist after all, He had blessed her with this little miracle. She was going to purge all thoughts of Wes from her system. After all, he was just part of a fantasy world. What did she really know about him? He had obviously purged her from his system. He had gotten with Yvette either during, or just after, the time he had been with her.

Nikki had been having strong feelings for Wesley for a while. But what was he really made of? And what would happen between them if things got tough?

Maybe my feelings for him are just stemming off what me and Carlos have been going through, she thought not for the first time. What happens when the new wears off? Will I be bored of him, or will he get tired of me? No, I better stay home; at least I know what to expect here, she thought as she slipped out of her pullover sweater.

Honey, what was that hot mess? How she don’t know whose baby that is? Not to mention she gon’ try to blame it on God! God didn’t tell her to be with two different men. Now, I don’t want to be one to judge. But that’s triflin’. Mm, mm, mmm! Honey, I ain’t got time for this! I gots some hair to do. I’ll see ya’ll either at the salon, or next Tuesday. “Every story I create, creates me. I write to create myself.” Octavia E. Butler

Every day, every story is a chance to improve upon me. It gives me a chance to become the “me” that I desire to be. I am thankful for the dawning of each day, as I ponder how I can make this day better than the day before.

I have that same perspective on every story that I write. I create characters who like me and those I know are flawed. They are filled with imperfections, weaknesses, and challenges. Yet, they are seeking to improve and overcome their obstacles. Every scene, every chapter, every page is a chance for them to learn and grow.

As I create the characters in my stories I find myself evolving, as well. Not just as a writer, but also as a person. I am able to reflect on the situations they face and how they handle the cards life (known as me LOL!!!) has dealt them. And then I allow that situation to minister to myself. How would I deal with that situation? What would my attitude be? How could I overcome, or allow my faith to grow in it?

Within some of these characters I am able to see bits of myself, as well as who I aspire to be. It helps mold and shape my thoughts, and define my own character. Writing allows me to deal with disappointments, frustrations, fears, hopes, dreams, and build my perspective on life.

However, the most important lesson I have derived from building my characters, is understanding my husband. My stories allow me to implement his views on life, and really dig into how that perspective works in the world we live in. The more I write, the more I think about his understanding, as well as my own.  Each story opens me up to the views and thoughts of others. It causes me to be less judgmental, and more loving towards others.

My writing strengthens me, develops me, and inspires me. And at the end of it all, I hope it does the same for others.
